There is much I take for granted in my life, and the normal functioning of American government is one of those things. In my 46 years, I've lived under nine different presidents. The first I remember is Carter. I've voted in every presidential election since 1992, but I do not consider myself a Democrat, or a Republican. I vote based on leadership – above all, leadership – and issues. In my 14 years of blogging, I've never written a political blog post. I haven't needed to. Until now. It is quite clear something has become deeply unglued in the state of American politics. The nuclear doomsday clock was just moved as close to midnight as it has been in 64 years.
